The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has issued a £160,000 fine to a boiler replacement company for making spam calls to people registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).
The company, Making it Easy Ltd, made over 850,000 calls to people registered with the TPS. There are strict rules around the use of marketing calls in the UK. The main ones to be aware of are the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The ICO has useful guidance on PECR and your obligations in relation to marketing.
