About Me

I have been privileged to be involved in a wide range of criminal and regulatory work whilst at Markel Law.  This has included as part of the team:

o Representing the Match Commanders at the Hillsborough Inquests, latterly with responsibility for the representation of David Duckenfield. Assisting the Senior Partner with case planning and day to day management of the defence team.

o Representing a Chief Superintendent in misconduct proceedings in relation to allegations of misuse of force equipment.

o Representing a Chief Superintendent charged with misconduct in a public office in the Crown Court. The case was dismissed following a submission of no case to answer.

o Representing a barrister alleged to have misappropriated funds from his Chambers.

o Advising generally in relation to Gangmasters Licensing Act matters and assisting to ensure that businesses are successful in applying for and retaining their licences following inspections by the regulator.

o Representing a businessman charged with conspiracy to defraud relating to investment properties to an alleged value of £3m and thereafter complex Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings.

o Representing a young businessman accused of high value mortgage fraud. Preparing the case to trial and assisting Counsel leading to our client’s acquittal.

o Representing an estate agency before the Magistrates Court in relation to breaches of Fire Safety legislation. Preparing the case for plea and mitigation.

o Representing a Chief Superintendent alleged to have breached the Police Conduct Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to honesty and integrity, abuse of authority and discreditable conduct due to his alleged inappropriate involvement in a recruitment process.

o Representing a Chief Constable accused of gross misconduct to a full Panel hearing including consideration of suspension and complex abuse of process issues.
